Gage is a 12 year old boy who, along with his
parents and two brothers, had to leave his Mississippi home due to hurricane
Katrina. The family finally settled in the Nashville, Tennessee area and now
call that home. Relocating a family of five is difficult in the best of
circumstances, but it was even more of a challenge because Gage suffers from a
severe seizure disorder.
Throughout everything, Gage held on to his wish of some day meeting Mickey
Mouse. When American Equity Mortgage heard about Gage and his family’s story,
we knew we just had to help his wish come true, so we worked with the
Make-A-Wish foundation to make it happen!
The AEM branch office in Nashville threw a wish party for Gage, but only his
parents knew about it. When Gage arrived at the office, he had no idea why they
were there. When it was announced that his wish was being granted, Gage was
very excited and couldn’t believe it! According to Craig Smidt,
Branch Manager, “The family was extremely appreciative.”
Spending a week in Disney World on an exciting family vacation was very needed
for this special family. They have been through so much between Katrina and
Gage’s illness, and they have stuck together through it all. This trip was an
opportunity for them all to relax and focus on each other and the
love they share.
American Equity Mortgage is proud to have helped the Make-A-Wish foundation
make Gage’s wish come true.
