Luke
is like most other eight year old boys. He likes watching movies, playing video
games and loves the outdoors. Riding ATV’s, horseback riding and fishing with
his family are his most favorite things to do. One thing about Luke that is
different from most others is that he suffers from heart disease.
When Luke was asked to make a wish, he didn’t wish for something only he would
like. He thought about his family and what they could enjoy together, which is
how Luke decided to wish for a camper so they could all go on fishing trips
together. When American Equity Mortgage heard about Luke and his wish, we knew
we had to help!
AEM worked with the Make-A-Wish foundation and threw Luke a surprise wish
celebration party. His favorite Mexican foods were delivered for a late lunch,
and American Equity Mortgage employees were able to meet Luke and his family.
Luke was shocked when a brand new camper was revealed at the party! “His face
was priceless. His demeanor went from shock, to shy, to absolute excitement,”
commented Sara Schrunk, a Loan Officer in the Minneapolis office of AEM. While
Luke and his family explored the new camper and all of the accessories that
came with it, like new fishing poles, they were already planning their first
fishing excursion.
The camper represents hope for a little boy dealing with a serious
illness. It will allow him and his family opportunities to reconnect and spend
time together having fun and enjoying each other’s company. Sara
summarized the event, “This was definitely a dream come true for little Luke.
He started off by showing shyness, but it wasn’t too long before we saw a big
smile! Luke’s parents showed such gratitude towards American Equity Mortgage
and the Make-A-Wish foundation for making their son’s wish come true in such a
big way.”
American Equity Mortgage is proud to have helped the Make-A-Wish foundation
make Luke’s wish come true.
