Wisconsin Boy Gets His Wish From AEM
Luke shows off some toys he received at his wish party.Luke, a four year old boy who lives in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area, has had to handle a lot in his young life. Luke suffers from Pulmonary Atresia, a rare form of congenital heart disease where the pulmonary valve does not form correctly, which interferes with the body’s ability to supply oxygen to the blood. Luke’s favorite Disney characters, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Pluto, have helped him endure countless doctor visits and surgeries to help his condition. When Luke was asked what he wished for, it didn’t take long for him to decide to visit Walt Disney World and meet the characters he loves so much.

To celebrate his upcoming Disney adventure, American Equity Mortgage threw Luke and his family a wish celebration party at one of his favorite places, Chuck E Cheese. Janet Mueller and Vilas Rasmussen, Loan Officers from the Milwaukee branch of American Equity, stated they were both, “touched and excited for the family” and described Luke as a blessing who is “shy at first but as soon as he smiles, everyone melts.” Luke is excited to meet Chuck E Cheese. They went on to say that the family was absolutely thrilled about the opportunity to go on this trip, and they shared photos and stories of Luke’s challenges. Vilas was especially moved by helping grant this wish, as her own son has had to endure similar heart surgeries as Luke.

Granting wishes like Luke’s allow families a chance to come together and forget about the doctor visits, hospital stays, mounting medical bills and wondering what the future holds. For at least a brief time, the family can focus on each other and sharing the experience of this exciting time together.

American Equity Mortgage is proud to have helped the Make-A-Wish foundation make Luke’s wish come true.
