Super Bowl Wish Come True for Kansas City Teen
Eric and his family pose with Jeff McMahill before the trip to the Super Bowl.Eric, a sixteen year old from the Kansas City, Missouri area, suffers from Ewing’s Sarcoma, a cancer of the bone or soft tissue. Eric’s passion for football and the New York Giants has helped him through the treatments, medication and hospital stays, so when Eric was asked to wish for something, it came as no surprise to his family that he wished to go to the Super Bowl. American Equity Mortgage, through AEM Cares, worked with the Make-A-Wish foundation and granted Eric’s wish!

The Branch Manager of our Kansas City office, Jeff McMahill, was present at the airport to see Eric and his family off to Phoenix for the big day. He presented Eric and another boy, Spencer, whose wish of the Super Bowl was also being granted, with send-off gifts. Jeff found the experience very rewarding and commented, “Both families were very, very appreciative. It was an honor to represent AEM and the boys and their families are truly impressive, admirable people . The wishes could not have been granted to more deserving people.”

Once Eric and his family arrived in Phoenix, they were taken to the University of Phoenix Stadium and given a special, private tour. They were even able to see the locker rooms and the facilities the trainers and players use. When asked where his seats were located, Eric responded, “It doesn’t matter - they are in the stadium!”

This trip was a much needed break for Eric and his family. They were able to forget about battling cancer and enjoy an experience most of us will never have. The memories of this trip will last forever and help Eric and his family fight through difficult times in the future.

American Equity Mortgage is proud to have helped the Make-A-Wish foundation make Eric’s wish come true.
