AEM Helps Homeless Animals
Many families are struggling to make ends meet in our current economy. Unfortunately, this has led some to surrender their family pets to shelters, or to just abandon them altogether.

With more pets being surrendered and more rescues taking place from hoarding and puppy mill situations, shelters are running out of room faster than ever and are in desperate need of supplies to care for the animals left behind.

OKC Pet Supplies AEM wanted to help support homeless animals and held a collection drive in each of our 16 markets across the country. Collection boxes were set up in every branch and employees, as well as customers, were encouraged to donate new and used items for the cause. The collected items were then delivered to a shelter in that community.

The collection drive was a huge success, and countless blankets, towels, pet toys, collars, bowls, crates, leashes and money were donated. We also collected over 500 pounds of dog and cat food! Homeless pets around the country will now have the supplies needed to help care for them while they wait for a new forever home.

MKE Pet Supplies. Rene Hawn, Jacksonville Administrative Assistant, commented, “The Humane Society that we donated to is low on everything, and there are not enough donations coming in to take care of all the animals they have as well as the new ones coming in each day. Our supply collection drive couldn’t have come at a better time because there are so many homeless and abandoned pets that need our help. We are doing a really great thing with this drive.”

At American Equity Mortgage, we understand the importance of giving back to the communities we serve, and we are proud to have helped the many pets who are waiting for a home of their own.
