AEM and MADD Work Together to Get People to a Safer Place

American Equity Mortgage, through AEM Cares, sponsored the first ever MADD Rock N’ Bowl on August 16, 2008, in St. Louis, Missouri. The event was a huge success and brought families and friends together to bowl for a great cause. AEM was proud to be the lead sponsor of this exciting day, which raised funds to support MADD’s mission: to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking. Deanna Daughhetee, President and CEO of AEM, was bowling in style as she, Randi Naughton of FOX 2, and Meghan Hearst and Michael Boland from MADD, sent the first balls down the lanes to start the event. Team AEM was well represented by employees from the corporate office. All had a great time bowling, and one employee participated in a demonstration where she put on goggles that made her vision like someone who is on drugs. Bowling was impossible for her with the goggles on, which helped show how dangerous impairment from alcohol and/or drugs is. American Equity Mortgage has been a supporter of the Gateway Chapter of MADD for several years. Our relationship started in 2005 when we sponsored the Get in Gear Road Rally and it has continued to flourish through the years with the Band With Blue and the Rock N’ Bowl as the need for drunk driving prevention and support for the victims is still needed. Michael Boland, a long-time MADD volunteer and former national board member, commented on AEM’s involvement, “What we at MADD believe is simply put, through the gift of generosity and kindness of Deanna and AEM, it makes a difference in repairing and saving lives. Both AEM and MADD are getting us all to a better place through AEM generosity and Deanna’s heartfelt leadership.”
