Fall Home Improvement Ideas
Friday, October 24, 2008

With the warmer weather coming to an end and the kids back in school, this can be the perfect time of year to take on home improvement projects. There are a number of home improvements that can be made that will add value to your home. Also, many of these improvements will make your home more energy-efficient—saving you money as energy costs rise.

Here are just a few home improvement ideas for fall:

  1. Roof repair/replacement: Inspect your roof, and replace any damaged shingles before winter arrives. This will help to protect your home from any interior water damage.
  2. Weatherproof your windows: Check your windows for drafts, and add caulk or weather-stripping for insulation. You may want to consider replacing older windows—most newer windows will improve your home’s energy efficiency.
  3. Prepare your yard for next year: Fall is the ideal time to plant grass seed, so that your lawn will look its best next spring. It is also a good time to prepare flower beds for next year.

These home improvements, and others, will make your home more comfortable and attractive, and will help you save money in the long run.
